The Gatekeeper Details

The Gatekeeper Cottage is our first born, so to speak.  We designed it to give our guests a rustic, yet romantic feel of yesteryear. The decor is filled with things of long ago as well as things of today with all the modern amenities you’d expect.  It is centrally located on the property and is near the stunningly beautiful Rose-stone berm entrance to the resort. The Gatekeeper boasts a large wrap around porch where you can sit and relax while taking in the panoramic view of the hidden wilderness of Tuscobia Lake!

The Sleeping Loft

Climb the ladder stairs into a heavenly master bedroom with sliding barn doors that can be opened during the day to let the brilliant light shine in from adjacent dormer windows, or closed at night to provide more privacy.  This bedroom also features two skylights, walk in closet, and a half bath. A french door leads to an outdoor balcony offering a grand view of the eastern sunrise whether you’re relaxing with a good book, or just waking up enjoying a fresh cup of brew.  The heartbeat of this cottage is the one of a kind wavy balcony just outside of the bedroom overlooking the great room and fireplace. This balcony with it’s artistic flair sets everything into motion, like a wave, so that everything in the cottage flows from one end to the other welcoming you!

The Main Level

When you enter into the Gatekeeper you’ll find an open concept great room with a full size sofa sleeper and full kitchen.  In the great room you’ll be in awe of the beautiful vaulted ceiling and Black Frost ledge-stone fireplace the minute you walk in. The towering tin wall to the west reaches 22 feet to the peak!  All of the walls and the entire ceiling are made out of Black Ash car siding perfectly stained to let the beauty of the wood grain show through. Oak hardwood floors run throughout the entire main level and sleeping loft. The kitchen appliances, include an electric stove, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. Its rustic custom made cabinets and beautiful 7 1/2 foot tall wavy glass antique cupboard make this kitchen ooze with nostalgic charm. Enjoy a large full bathroom with a spacious tub/shower unit. The vanity has double vessel sinks resting on an exquisite antique buffet.

The Lower Level

A beautiful spiral staircase leads you down to the lower level. The lower level sleeps four, one bedroom with a queen bed and a queen sofa sleeper in the additional living room space down there. It also has a full bathroom and a walk out door to the patio. The entire cottage sleeps 8.
